Ad Tech 2006 Chicago II

Well I’m finally home from Ad Tech in Chicago. It was an interesting trip. Not as many geeks as I had hoped. But I did learn a few things.

The main thing I noticed about Ad Tech was it was a lot of suit and tie guys. A lot of guys who are in advertising. And it seemed like all the booths at the trade shows were looking for advertisers and didn’t really care about us publishers.

For me the trade show was a bust, where I got most of my interesting information was talking with other guys. I met a young kid the first day who introduced me to Joe Bucks, which looks like an exciting program. He also, gave me great advice…only talk to guys in jeans, stay clear of the suits.

On Tuesday, I met an interesting guy doing some pay day loan stuff. Come to find out he’s dumping a TON into adwords and has no clue what he’s doing. He offered me a job.

I realized at Ad Tech that nobody in the advertising industry has a clue. Internet marketing is like chinese to most people. Which makes me excited to continue down that path, because I know there is a lot of money to be made by guys like me.
